Account Executive, Demand Side Management

As an Account Executive for BlueStar Energy, you'll be an integral component of a growing energy company and work to identify and develop a portfolio of accounts and establish strategic partnerships, alliances and business opportunities. This position reports to the Director of Lighting Services within BlueStar Energy's Demand Side Management Division.

Key responsibilities include:

Lead Generation

Identify, develop and maintain a consistent incoming stream of prospective customers. This requires resourcefulness in terms of initiating calls, scheduling appointments and in-person meetings.

Sales Aptitude

Solution selling role; take a consultative approach to sell the concept of energy savings and return on investment of lighting efficiency initiatives.

Pre-Sale Analysis & Proposal Generation

Review on-site facility data collected to identify various demand reduction opportunities and assess the scope/requirements/timing of project. Coordinate and mentor Blue Star Energy's Field Auditors regarding specific information needed to produce detailed and accurate proposals.

Establish BlueStar Energy

Promote BlueStar's reputation; build value and credibility associated with the BlueStar Energy brand name.

Contact Management

Gather, verify and maintain all contact information of key decision makers utilizing BlueStar's proprietary contact management system.

Market Intelligence

Gain knowledge, insight and understanding from key decision makers, contractors, builders and general account information regarding current lighting hardware/supply, electrical interests, business needs/challenges, desired product types and contract terms required for BlueStar to quote a prospective customer.

Project Management

Manage project from inception to completion; maintain a high level of customer consultation and service.

Credit & Pricing

Gather necessary information to determine customer creditworthiness.

Contract Negotiation

Prepare, present, interpret and re-negotiate BlueStar's contracts ensuring a positive customer experience.

Reporting & Feedback

Provide ongoing and regular feedback to sales management regarding key account opportunities and challenges.

Successful candidates will satisfy all of the following experience and educational requirements:

Winning Sales Record

Proven sales professional with mastery of sales psychology and solid techniques. Knowledge of contracting, negotiating, and change management.

Drive & Motivation

Self-directed, ambitious and extremely driven to succeed.

Lighting Experience

Successful sales experience in the lighting/electrical business or related field or strong aptitude for industrial/commercial/technical sales is preferred.

Organizational Skills

Highly organized with strong follow-through skills, ability to effectively manage multiple projects in various stages and competing demands.

Superior Communications

Exemplary verbal, technical writing, and confident presentation skills along with excellent interpersonal skills.

Relationship Builder

Strong existing relationships and ability to establish new relationships. Skilled at working across multi-disciplinary functions and external parties who are involved in the lighting efficiency projects, such as contractors, builders, electricians, and utility companies.

Results Orientation

Proactive problem solving ability with a solutions-oriented attitude. Focus on results with an ability to manage frequently changing priorities and stress in a professional and productive manner.

Education

Relevant sales experience is favored over college degree.

The position requires that you are constantly in the field and you must own a car.

The experience to be gained from the BlueStar Energy career experience includes-- A deepened proficiency and expertise in the electricity/lighting space and strengthening of analytical and negotiating skills. A strengthening of a broad array of skills, such as growing and managing a successful start-up, strategic account management, learning the keys to the development of successful electricity retailer, integration with and application of customer research and analysis.
